Global Climate Change Policy
There is no greater threat to the future of all living beings than climate change. As VARAKA, we believe that the industry plays a critical role in finding sustainable solutions to the climate issues of our time.
Recognizing that climate change is a shared concern of humanity:
Parties are responsible for human-induced emissions and removals in accordance with methods and common metrics evaluated by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and adopted by the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement.
We aim to be one of the first companies to commit to and achieve science-based carbon reduction targets. On October 12, 2021, we set a goal to reach net-zero emissions in all production processes by 2050 and to calculate and have our interim emission reduction targets verified by 2030.
In line with the strategy of VARAKA Paper Industry Inc., and under the framework of our Climate Change Policy and general Environmental Policy, we commit to:
- Striving to reduce emissions in all production processes as much as possible,
- Advancing the reduction of energy used in our operations,
- Promoting the use of renewable energy technologies,
- Collaborating with suppliers to reduce carbon footprints and minimize climate impacts,
- Developing roadmaps for emission reductions across all key steps of our operations and value chain,
- Implementing CO2 emission reduction targets as one of the elements of our long-term management incentive plans,
- Collaborating with other partners (industries, academia, NGOs, governments, etc.) on climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
