Zero Waste
Contrary to popular belief, waste is not just synonymous with garbage. It is a concept that requires a particular sensitivity, as nearly every aspect of consumption involves the use of energy and water resources. Thus, recycling processes alone are not enough when it comes to waste management.
Turkey has been a pioneer in the "Zero Waste Project," launched in 2017, which has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, demonstrating the global importance of this approach.
At Varaka Paper, we view the concept of "zero waste" not merely as a process but as a philosophy, an idea, and a principle. We recognize that the steps we take today are part of a long journey.
Varaka Paper produces 250,000 tons of paper annually using 300,000 tons of recyclable paper. Considering that one ton of paper requires 17 trees, this effort prevents the cutting of approximately 14,700 trees per year.
In line with our operations, we meticulously carry out waste management processes, including minimizing waste at its source, separating waste, storing it separately, and sending it to licensed firms for recovery.
As an environmentally conscious company, Varaka effectively manages the waste generated during the recycling process of scrap paper in accordance with environmental regulations, continuing its green operations.
