Recycling
The most fundamental raw material for paper production is cellulose, derived from trees.
Once paper made from cellulose is used, it turns into waste paper, which can then be reused as a raw material for further paper production. Depending on the fiber condition and quality, paper made from cellulose can be recycled 5-6 times on average.
At Varaka Paper, we operate a production process that uses 100% waste paper. By utilizing waste paper in production, we reduce the number of trees that need to be cut down, thereby protecting our environment and creating added value.
Our factory, which consumes five times less water and energy compared to similar facilities, stands as a significant example of sustainability efforts.
Through licenses like ISO 50001 Energy Management System and Zero Waste Certification, we ensure not only the quality of our production but also the protection of environmental awareness under our brand.
Our factory’s production principle is centered around sustainability, using 100% waste paper to recycle paper and packaging waste back into the economy.
With our self-sufficient energy facility, we produce 200,000 tons of packaging paper annually and achieve considerable savings in sustainable energy. By establishing our own cogeneration facility to meet steam and electricity needs, we reached a capacity of 320,000 MW of electricity generation, allowing us to remain competitive while maintaining low energy costs. Additionally, the capacity of our wastewater treatment plant has reached 9,400 m³/day, while daily water consumption stands at 6,000 m³.
With the vision we have set forth and the dedication of our employees, we at Varaka Paper take great pride in being awarded the "Waste Management Brand of the Year" gold award at the "Climate and Sustainability Focused Brands" competition organized by Marketing Turkey.
